A plea for national research to to cure metastatic breast cancer:
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and yet we have no national approach to curing this disease, which kills tens of thousands of women every year in the U.S. alone. Numerous institutions make selected efforts to improve treatment, but we need an organized effort with government oversight to combine resources and find a cure. Such cure(s) should be in the public domain and not subject to monopoly or patents in the private sector.
Congresss should be motivated to end this disease and at the same time save the billions in healthcare costs spent
on terminally ill patients who could be saved. It's also the humane thing to do. The President should use his "bully pulpit" to put pressure on Congress.
