While this is largely a symbolic gesture, all 300 million Americans are deeply affected by events in Newtown. I am asking the President to ask Congress to pass a resolution that we the people of the United States hereby adopt the twenty children who were taken from us as our children -- children of the citizens of the United States of America -- so that we may never forget this event. So that it will remind us to be civil and care for others in our community. And so that we may work diligently, ceaselessly and passionately -- all Americans -- at all levels -- until gun violence and mass murders are completely eradicated from our society.
