In 2008, you said that you would work to reinstate the ban on assault weapons. The horror of Aurora only emphasizes the already existing need to do this. The data show that stricter gun control reduces gun-related deaths. This petititon asks only for the assault weapons ban so that a) we can eliminate this horrific weapon and b)so that we can renew a reasoned conversation on violence and gun control. We need real and meaningful tributes to the innocent dead, wounded and families of both dead and wounded. This ban would be a beginning
