We request that congressman David Cicilline resign immediately, for the following reasons,
1) Shortly after assuming office, your successor as the Mayor of the City of Providence, Angel Taveras, announced that the City was facing a "category 5" hurricane due to its substantial debt. Tavares was compelled to engage in austerity cuts including teacher layoffs and pay cuts for city employees.The total structural debt inherited by Tavares in 2011 was $180 million.
2)The citys Auditor’s report states that the your Administration drained $17.5 million from the City’s Rainy-Day Fund in 2009 and 2010 without approval of the City Council as required by the City Charter.This report also determined that your Administration failed to inform the City Council of projected budget deficits in 2009
