The FCC regulates and controls the Television ratings system.
Sporting events and News are exempt from displaying ratings. The WWE (Professional Wrestling) must display a rating before each broadcast as it does not qualify as a 'Sport' but as entertainment.
The current state of what passes as 'news' in America is unacceptable. When our best, most honest journalism is coming from an hour M-Th from Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central, it is time for a change.
I contend, Fox News, MSNBC and CNN should be mandated to label their content with the FCC standard ratings as entertainment/ editorial as it no longer meets the criteria of 'news' and as such should no longer enjoy that exception just as the WWE has conformed.
