Domestic ferrets are legal in 48 states; all states except California and Hawaii.
We have made several official requests to the California Fish & Game Commission to start the process to remove an animal; in our case domestic ferrets from the list of prohibited wildlife. We have even commissioned a Preliminary Environmental Impact Report on the subject from Sacramento State University which they will not accept.
The only response received from the Commission was:
“There’s no reason for us to legalize one more animal that could come into California and do damage to our native species”
Yet they are unable to identify any actual damages done by domestic ferrets.
We deserve our hearing and we request the White House to give this issue a nudge.
