My petition seeks to initiate the process of adding the likeness of the first African-American president to Mt.Rushmore. All of those on the monument share one driving characteristic, they personified a mark change in the country's existence:
Thomas Jefferson helped create the soul of the nation.
George Washington led the defense and establishment of the nation.
Theodore Roosevelt was a driving force of the Progressive Era which led to a middle class
Abraham Lincoln held the country together when ripped apart by slavery.
President Barak Obama, was the personification of the Lincoln's sacrifice. He is the evidence that anything truly is possible in America. He led our country out of the worst economic recession the world has seen, and, hunted down Osama Bin Laden who perpetrated 9/11.
