Justices Antonin Scallia and Clarence Thomas must recuse themselves from any hearings regarding the Health Care Reform Act. They were guests of honor at the annual dinner of the Federalist Society, sponsored in part by Bancroft LLC, representing the 26 state challenge to the law, the National Federation of Independent Business that challenged the law, and Pfizer, Inc. with a financial stake in the decision.
Justices Scalia and Thomas, as guests of honor at this meeting on the same day that the Supreme Court announced that it would consider the law suggests at least an appearance of a conflict of interest and ethics.
We agree that Justices Scalia and Thomas must recuse themselves from hearings about the Health Care Reform Act to avoid any suspicion of conflict of interest.
