Sofia Vergara is a beautiful Latin-American woman who happens to have naturally blonde hair. To conform to the dark-haired stereotype, "Modern Family" has depicted her with dyed hair. This perpetuates reductive conceptions about Latin-Americans and women and insults the intelligence of the viewing public. While the Federal Government has no authority in the artistic decisions made by the entertainment industry, the White House has the bully pulpit to highlight this demeaning if subtle prejudice. We ask President Obama to publicly request that "Modern Family" have Gloria - Sofia Vergara's character - revert to her natural hair color, blonde.
