Since the election of President Elect Donald Trump, hate crimes have increased. Muslims, LGBTQ+, people of color, women and others have been victims of verbal and physical abuse. The rhetoric of the campaign has unleashed an anger and given voice to those who would treat others with disrespect and violence.
We believe that the first step to stop this activity is for President Obama to ask President Elect Donald Trump to make a public statement denouncing these actions. Because he is now the voice of those who supported his message throughout the campaign, we believe that he is the only one who can set a tone of healing for our country.
This is a call to our President Elect to show with his actions that he cares about all Americans and not just those who voted for him.
