Social Security has not contributed any to the current debt of the USA. Half the debt that congress wants to reduce was accrued from the wars we have engaged in since G.W. Bush.
What has been suggested is to recalculate Social Security benefits through a process called Chained CPI, which would ultimately reduce the Social Security payments to retirees and military veterans by about $600 a year.
Petition the President not to include Chained CPI or any other reduction of Social Security in any negotiations with congress regarding the budget.
