The current situation at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs is abysmal. Patients are dying waiting on appointments while administrators carelessly conceal their own culpability in the situation. The efforts of the administration to improve the system have been met with increasingly worsening results. The time for a new Secretary is now. We plead for the resignation of Secretary Shinseki and the appointment of a Secretary capable of modernizing the system and holding subordinates accountable. Our nation’s Veterans deserve better care – not excuses and cover-ups. Please, Mr. President, ask for the resignation of Secretary Shinseki immediately.
