Secretary Colin Powell, Republican from New York and former 4-star general who’s held many leadership posts, should be asked if he’d accept the votes of Electors of the U.S. Electoral College on Dec. 19, 2016. His leadership experience, patriotism, integrity, moderation, and independence make him uniquely qualified to fulfill the duties of President of the United States. If elected by a vote of 270+ Electors, he must be willing to serve as President. This includes election by the U.S. House, as defined by the U.S. Constitution, if he’s one of the top 3 recipients in Electoral votes and no one reaches the 270-Electoral-vote threshold. Secretary Powell, whose age frees him from political considerations, could serve nobly as the constitutionally determined president until the 2020 election.
