President Obama set a forward thinking and historically-based agenda for his next term. As difficult as this will be, with Republican extremists nipping at every sensible step, it will be a failure if democrats can't exert a little Machiavellian insight into the effort. Senator Reid's one-time-only chance to reform the dysfunctional filibuster rule has been squandered -- and sets the tone for yet another lackluster term for the president. His leadership has been spineless and haphazard for years. He needs to go!
