Forrest City is named in honor of Confederate Civil War general Nathan Bedford Forrest who, among other things, committed numerous massacres of Southern Unionists and African-Americans alike. Furthermore he was the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist organization. The State of Arkansas and the Forrest City government should be kindly asked to consider a name change.
