Foster youth routinely move from place to place during the time they spend in foster care. Due to frequent moving, youth often face massive obstacles in obtaining a proper education. Because the youth are part of one of America's most vulnerable population, they often become invisible. As the National Foster Parent Association copyright 2015 proclaims, many of the 400,000 youth in care move one or two times each year...[and] lose...4 to 6 months of academic progress with each change in school...” If this group of students continue to fall behind, their futures will be compromised. Asking agencies to reconsider how youth are moved form school to school will not solve all of the issues they face, but it is a step in the right direction.
