If the members of the US Congress believe that the current Federal Minimum Wage ($7.25/hr) is enough for a person, let alone a family, to live off of then they should have no problem doing the same for themselves.
I am fully aware that most if not all of them have other means of income and that this would be mostly a symbolic gesture, but I believe it would be an important one.
They only make minimum wage themselves until they can agree to raise it up to a reasonable level.
