By allowing this 22 year old law to dictate terms of our current foreign policy is not only unwise and unsafe but it also sends the message to the world that US promotes poverty, illiteracy and hunger of many while holding onto ideals that clearly have not yielded any meaningful results.
It shows neither the current presidency not the current Congress is keen to act justly in this manner and will leave needy to their own wit.
Organizations such as UNESCO promote real and permanent good around the world. Cutting funding to such organizations jeopardizes people's livelihood and disturbs peace in many of the poor regions around the world.
Let us not be the nation that leaves most basic of humanity at such peril !
