Puerto Rican scientists are committed to find solutions and collaborate with the environmental agencies to take Vieques in the right path to decontamination. They need to know what weapons the Navy used and what types of chemicals are in the area, so they can look for ways to address the problem. The challenge with this is that the Navy and the Department of Defense refuse to make a “full-disclosure” of all the military activity during decades of bombing and training. Without a “full-disclosure” it is very difficult to properly address the problems in Vieques.
This petition for the White House is to ask the Department of Defense and the Navy to release all the documents in regards to the trainings and testing in Vieques during their military maneuvers on the island.
