The 2014 Winter Olympics are being held in Russia. Homophobic laws are being created and enforced, while LGBT citizens are openly discriminated against and publicly beaten.
The opening ceremony of the games include the Parade of Nations, where the Olympic Team of every nation marches carrying their respective flags for the world to see. As a nation with a President who supports LGBT rights and marriage, and a majority of the public now in favor of gay marriage, I ask the President to ask and push the U.S. Olympic Team and Committee to carry a rainbow flag, along side our country flag, during the Parade of Nations. This will act as a show of solidarity with the LGBT community, our support for greater human rights around the world, and a public condemnation of Russia's actions.
