Asking Chinese President Xi Jinping to release arrested human rights lawyers during his state visit

Created by S.Y. on September 04, 2015

Since July of this year, the Chinese government has launched a nation-wide crackdown of human rights lawyers with its police forces and so-called justice system. Hundreds of lawyers advocating for social justice have been arrested, jailed, questioned, threatened and monitored since then. As the Chinese president Xi Jinping will pay for a state visit to the United States and meet with President Obama this month, we want President Obama to properly address this issue to President Xi during his visit and ask for the release of arrested lawyers. The US should be a leader in international human rights protection, and this is a good opportunity to show our support for human rights in China.
