It is time for a frank and lucid discussion about issues we face in society. We cannot achieve this by letting politicians with social and political biases be our mouthpieces. I would like for the government to take an interest broader in scope of the average man and woman rather than trusting that an arbitrary number of elected officials can speak for all of our best interests, well-intentioned (or not, sometimes) they may be.
It is time to focus on American society. In the interest of not tainting my intentions with this petition by specifically naming recent incidents, I will say the way said incidents polarize people would better sell their silver lining in a public forum where the vox populi speaks louder than political rhetoric. The voice of the people is what empowers democracy.
