Law enforcement authorities are not exempt from the very laws they enforce. Citizens should not be held hostage or at gunpoint for authorities to confiscate personal property without a warrant. Laws should speak to the needs of the people in this situation to protect the innocent. Any on-duty law enforcement entity should assume responsibility for actions whether right or wrong. While on-duty a right to privacy is not assumed while performing on-job tasks.
