Assign an investigative committee to examine the deceptive and unsafe business practices of the cruise industry

The cruise industry operates largely out of United States ports, yet utilizes a myriad of loopholes to evade regulations and maximize profit. These business practices are deceptive, and sometimes plainly unsafe. Having employees and customers unwittingly agree to binding arbitration clauses, leveraging a variety of loopholes flagging their vessels to ports on convenience, and deceptive third-party vendor sales of high price artwork on board; all unacceptable. A pervasive culture of cover-up has lead to several high-profile disasters in recent years, often with fatalities. There is no excuse for an industry this large to be operating so deeply in the shady margins of the law. Please assign a Congressional Investigative Committee today.
