During the Democratic presidential primary, Debbie Wasserman Schultz manipulated the nomination process in favor of Hillary Clinton. At the very least this violated the principles of democracy while in the worst case it has manipulated the final outcome of the 2016 presidential election. In doing so, Wasserman Schultz may have violated 18 U.S. Code Chapter 29 § 595 - Interference by administrative employees of Federal, State, or Territorial Governments, as Hillary Clinton's and Bernie Sanders' Secret Service detail is financed by the federal government, and both candidates may have received other federal support, which may in fact constitute the equivalent of a grant.
