Many people bought houses that they put all the money they had into to bring the mortgage payment down just enough so they could pay it monthly. Now they have no material "toys" or extras because they sunk it into a house they bought at an inflated market price. Their house has now dropped 50% or more but because they have been responsible and accountable and have made the payments, they owe slightly less than what the house is worth. They are being punished because all the financial assistance programs help ONLY those who owe more than the house is worth. A big reason why they owe less is because they bought expensive toys, such as a luxury car or boat, or a second house, and put almost nothing down on their house. Please help the more ethical, hard working Americans.
