The United States of America is a unique nation with the resources to build affordable spacecraft within 15 years. If the administration supported a private company by purchasing shuttles like we do military aircraft we could boost research and development of spacecraft.
If the craft where purchased from american companies it could potentially promote job growth and inspire young Americans to aim for the stars instead of their cellular phones. By going from the drawing board to flight with $25 million in a short 3 years, Burt Rutan has shown with the production of Space Ship One that it does not take a corporation like Boeing to produce a feasible spacecraft.
For the cost of a single F22 we could fund 6 space programs. The path has been paved, now we need to walk it or be left behind.
