The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is an integral part of the NY city and Long Island economy. There has been an impasse for the past several weeks between the MTA and the Union representing the workers. A strike by union workers would cause a shutdown of the LIRR trains which carry over 300,000 commuters each day.
Commuters today have no alternative means of travel to their jobs as the roads cannot handle additional traffic.
I urge you to take the side of the commuter and assist with the stalled negotiations.
