The governments are attacking our 2nd amendment rights and are making it more difficult to own certain guns because they are "scary". The rifle used in the sandy hook elementary shooting and other similar rifles are a small percentage of the rifles owned in the US. this link (http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-...) provides true information on the violent crime rates in the US.
The real problem isn't guns. It's the fact that most violent crimes occur in metropolitan areas and therefore something must be done int hese areas to drop the rate. Sandy hook elementary was a tragedy but there is very little that could've been done.
