Since the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910, each President has been declared Honorary President of BSA and has been invited to attend the National Jamboree. The next event begins on July 15th with over 50,000 visitors expected. We petition President Obama to attend in person and repeat his calls for equality and inclusion in Scouting. The BSA’s recent change to its membership policy allows the participation of gay youth, yet bans gay adults. We ask the President to stand firm against this double standard. Step onto the Jamboree stage and speak up for all of our youth and adults; repeat your message of equal access and opportunity for gay people in every institution and walk of life. Recognize the self-evident truth that all are created equal.
