President Obama has attended several DC area sporting events but has neglected the Washington Capitals hockey team for his entire first term. There is no time like the lockout shortened season to change that. The NHL and its owners have damaged its fragile popularity through a needless lockout. The publicity that will accompany the president attending his first NHL hockey game will no doubt make strides in restoring the leagues reputation.
