Since 1996 taxpayers have given the Pentagon over 8.5 trillion dollars. In spite of that absurd amount of money the Pentagon has not been audited since 1996 even though federal law requires ALL federal agencies to be audited annually.
According to Reuters- the Pentagon suffers from, "chronic failure to keep track of its money; how much it has, how much it pays out, and how much is wasted or stolen"
I.e. their most recent blunder- 2.7 Billion dollars going towards an intelligence system that doesn't work.(DCGS)
It is time we hold not only ourselves to a higher standard, but the politicians, government officials, and government agencies they serve to a higher standard as well.
