The opportunity to explore the dwarf planet, Sedna, with a 12,000 year orbit is available within the lifetime of our current generation. The planet will reach its closest distance to our sun by 2075. This interplanetary mission will further our understanding of several disciplines of sciences. If we miss this opportunity, we will not have another window until the next 12,000 years. The Voyager series and New Horizons space probes have demonstrated we have the technology and ingenuity to make this mission a success.
