authorize Congressional pay at $1.00 per year. Serving in Congress should be considered a privilege.

Created by G.N. on August 08, 2013

Service to this country and its people should be considered a privilege. We currently pay 535 members of Congress approximately $200,000 each, plus full benefit and insurance packages, as well as numerous perks. Sadly, we don't ever seem to get our money's worth; regardless of the political affiliation of the legislator. Legislators already earn millions of dollars annually from other sources. I propose that we do the following:

1. Reduce Congressional pay to $1.00 per year.
2. Require each member of Congress to pay for his/her own health insurance premiums, out of their own pocket.
3. Disallow lobbyists from donating money, goods or services to legislators; as that should be considered a form of "bribery", as the lobbyist expects certain votes or favors in return.
