The National Do Not Call Registry, managed by the Federal Trade Commission, has been highly successful at eliminating unwanted telemarketing and advertising calls, email is protected against unwanted email by the "Spam" feature and server protections, yet unwanted postal mail is ignored.
A Do Not Mail Registry would eliminate unwanted junk mail advertising.
Junk mail creates a heavier burden on landfills and recycling plants, causes recipients additional stress of knowing their's and their family's names are being printed excessively, increases need for confidential shredding (consuming valueable power and money), and wastes taxpayer money creating unnecessary work for the postal system.
The American people deserve the right to say what they do and do not want to receive in their mailbox.
