Authorize the development of a national gun buy-back program in memory of the Sandy Hook victims.

Created by D.R. on December 16, 2012

In honor of the recent Sandy Hook massacre, I propose The development of a national gun buyback program, designed to remove illicit weapons from our streets. In the past, local communities that have initiated such programs have been wildly successful, and the implementation of a national program has the potential to remove millions of weapons from our communities. Such a program could be easily funded by online donations and grass-roots organizations, with a minimum outlay of general funds from the government. Being on a national scale, this program would have the added benefit of providing further education on the responsibilities of gun ownership and the horrific scale of violence caused by the easy accessibility of firearms.
