Authorize Federal Employees to have Paid Maternity Leave

Created by M.G. on January 29, 2014

Currently, many private sector corporations authorize their employees to have a designated amount of paid maternity/paternity leave. As an example, Yahoo corporation authorizes new mothers up to 16 weeks of paid time off following the birth of their children and new fathers are authorized up to eight weeks of paid paternity leave.

There is ZERO authorized paid time off for new parents employed by the Federal Government without having to use accumulated sick-leave. Many Federal employees wishing to take time off following the birth of their children are forced to take Leave Without Pay, putting their families into possible financial crises without income during that time.

Please help us to bring this issue to the floor AGAIN for consideration!
