Authorize military service members and DoD Civilians to carry a concealed weapon on Federal CONUS Installations.

Created by J.C. on December 03, 2013

I am requesting that Dod directive 5210.56 is amended to allow servicemembers and DoD civilians with a state issued handgun permit to carry a concealed weapon on CONUS Federal Installations and Alaska and Hawaii. Armed personnel will follow the rules of engagement established by their installation commander. Commanders may require additional training for handgun permit holders. The benefits of trained personnel carrying a concealed weapon will outweigh the risks by adding extra security through faster response to threats. Personnel who apply for carry permits are vetted, so only responsible, qualified personnel will have carry permits.
