Authorize Sole Source procurements for Service Disabled Veteran under the SBA Small Business set aside program.

Created by M.K. on September 27, 2011

Service Disabled Veterans have many skills that can be used in Federal contracting. The barriers to their obtaining contracts include bundling and access to Federal Procurement Officials. A sole source set- aside program would provide increased job opportunities for these veterans. Also veterans tend to start their own businesses and become self reliant at a very high rate. The program should model the 8(a) program but the socio disadvantage shoudl be assumed as with minorities. The economic criteria should still be required.

The SBA Veteran Business Development Officers should be increased to handle the new set-aside program.
