The technology exists to have secure electronic cash issued by the US mint.
Military grade encryption applied to commonly available credit card technology could allow for a nationwide ID card that would be a vessle for electronic cash.
The savings to us government functions might be enough to balance the budget.
The US government has mostly lost control of the its own mint. We have lost the definition of money and allowed it to be controlled and hoarded by a very few powerful banks.
Defining and backing electronic cash would allow the government to say what money is and give its citizens a secure economic backbone to grow our economy into the future. This is a discussion that needs to happen.
This is pure electronic capitalism and leadership in this bi-partisan matter is needed.
