AUTISM THERAPY REQUIRE COVERAGE IN EMPLOYER HEALTH INSURANCE

Created by R.B. on January 13, 2013

One in 88 children in America have some degree of autism.

There are 37 States that have in recent years passed legislation requiring insurance to cover expensive but effective therapies such as Applied Behavioral Analysis.

These laws though only apply to private insurance within each state.

The health plans sponsored by most large companies are not subject to State laws but are subject to ERISA which is a Federal act.

This petition asks that ERISA be amended to require self-funded employer plans to not discriminate against this one major condition which affects so many Americans.

The incremental cost to insurance is low. The cost in future dollars to care for adults with autism are incalculable.
