Getting ratings from the VA is a long process which includes taking up valuable time for combat veterans and their families. Veterans who served in combat have either been hurt or undergo some type of mental stress. Automatically awarding 50% disability rate would cut down on man hours and government spending on medical evaluations, and mental health evaluations. A normal process takes up to approximately one year or more to get a rating. Government spending in these areas could be reduced by automatically awarding a 50% rating. This would allow for immediate financial support. All non-combat veterans would go through the normal process for their claims.
