Since 2014, civilian members of the Department of Defense can opt-in to the TSA pre-check program with no fee or additional application. This should be expanded to all Federal civilian employees, if possible, as well as retirees, and officials of state and local law enforcement who have already undergone extensive background investigations and been fingerprinted as a condition of employment. This would expand the program and alleviate long lines at TSA screening and reduce need for additional TSA staff to do screenings. CBP should do the same for the global entry program for such travelers on personal travel.
