Automatically use the name "Enterprise" for the first commissioned version of any new warship class or type.

Created by R.S. on November 23, 2012

As the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier is decommissioned, The name "Enterprise" has always represented the leading edge in warship technology, and as such should not pass from the list of honored names of Naval vessels. It is petitioned then that as long as there is no currently commissioned vessel in the United States Navy, the name "Enterprise" should automatically be given the the first commissioned warship of a new type or class. Should there be no new type or class of vessel under development that would potentially carry this honored name, the next commissioned vessel of a current class of warship that has not already been given a name should carry the name of "Enterprise". This petition would not enclude vessels of a support nature or those that are not intended for worldwide use.
