AVN aka Osteonecrosis,An orphan disease that needs recognized and researched and better treatment of the disease.

The term “osteonecrosis” is a Latin term for “bone death” and the condition is also referred to as avascular necrosis (or AVN).The orphan disease that results from a significant loss of blood supply to an area of bone tissue. The most common areas affected are the hip, knee, spine, shoulder and wrist. Loss of circulation causes the bone tissue to die, and collapse of bone.Yet little research is being done. We need your help to get better funding and research for this very painful and debilitating disease.Finding a specialist in avn is so difficult, we need Doctors better educated, so we as patients get better care. And someday a cure. We need and AVN awareness day,week, month something as so many suffer.While many have lost the ability to walk, this is one step we can take together.
