Avoid another assault weapons ban. It was costly, bureaucratic and ineffective at deterring crime

Created by J.B. on November 07, 2012

The expired assault weapons ban was ineffective and costly bureaucracy. Another such law would give the public a false sense of security, and should be avoided.
The administration should enforce the existing gun laws in existence, or support new gun laws that are common sense such as background checks, keeping guns away from mentally ill, children, etc...
The administration should focus efforts on addressing root causes of crime such as drugs, and mental illness (care and prevention)
In addition to properly enforcing existing gun laws and other measures to address crime, the Second Amendment should be preserved as well as the rights of law abiding gun owners.
