Firearms by themselves are not dangerous. It is combination of firearms and individuals with mental illness or mental stability issues that make them dangerous. Firearms should not be sold or transferred to people who live with (in the same household) a mentally ill or mentally unstable person. While people's right to own firearms cannot be infringed, having firearms in the same household with a mentally ill or mentally unstable person is not a good idea. Mental illness gets recognized by members in the same household so simply asking the question on the firearms purchase form can identify this.
