Award Antoinette Tuff with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for preventing a mass school shooting

Created by M.B. on August 23, 2013

At an Atlanta elementary school on August 20th, 2013, school clerk Antoinette Tuff talked a mentally unstable gunman carrying 500 rounds of ammunition into surrendering to police. She saved possibly dozens of lives with her calm, quick thinking, open mind and open heart. She is an everyday American who became a hero in a terrifying situation. Her story demonstrates that compassion and understanding can triumph over violence. She deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, for her courage and compassion.
