Veterans of every operation since 9/11 have been granted a service medal short Operation Noble Eagle which is still an on-going operation. Tens of thousands of service members have never been formally recognized for their service protecting the homeland on this mission. They should all be awarded the Armed Forces Service Medal which would apply in this instance. Furthermore, if any of these service members desire work with the Federal government, their service in this operation not having received this medal, leaves them unable to apply for jobs with VRA or Veterans Recruitment Authority as they are all ineligible. This medal being approved would honor their service in our nations time of need and give them the same benefit as every deployed service member since 9/11.
