Chris Mintz demonstrated "exemplary deeds or services [performed] for his or her country or fellow citizens" during the Umpqua Community College mass shooting in Oregon. A veteran, Mintz stood in the way of the shooter to protect others and took multiple bullets in the process. We should not let this kind of exemplary and couragous behavior go unrecognized. Therefore, I am petitioning the Obama Administration to award Chris Mintz the Presidential Citizens Medal, one of the highest awards the President of the United States can award.
